Full Version: Towing with a Genesis

Hi WB et al,

I had a related post on the "Ask Walker Bay" page and it was answered but I can't find that page now. This is a follow up to my previous questions.

When towing with the Genesis console model how do you attach to the dingy? It looks like the eye hooks on the transom for the davit could just be taken off and put back in with the eyes to the outside of the transom (assuming you don't need them for davit - as I don't). Is this the best set up? Is this how you (Walker Bay) set up the one you used for your promo material? Is there any special considerations when taking the eye hooks out?

Thank you very much.

Hello Bill.

We don't recommend that you two with your Walker Bay Genesis. One of the reasons is because there isn't a two hook on the back of the transom. For the promo shot that you are talking about, our production department modified the transom for them to be able to tow. Keep in mind that in the picture, they are not going very fast and that they girl is very light.
You can modify your transom (i.e. reversing the bow eye), just keep in mind that our Walker Bay Warranty does not cover any damage that is caused by modifications to the boat.

Thank you for the reply Brad. I am very concerned about damage caused by modications and the loss of warranty - and even more so, about safety. And I am very surprised by the recommendation not to tow. The reason I come to Walker Bay for advice (and not the local boat store) is to ensure I am doing it right, that the transom will not be damaged and to fulfill my (and Walker Bay's) promise to my kids of some good safe fun. One of the reasons I bought this particular boat is because it was advertized as having towing capability.

I understand that this will not be a high-speed affair and I don't expect to be able to pull water-skiing adults. I have what I believe is a reasonable expectation that the boat will perform as advertised.

Can Walker Bay please advise us on the safe and warranty sanctioned modifications required in order for this boat to perform as advertised?

Thank you,

Bill
