Hi,

I'm trying to decided between the Play and Sport models for myself.

I'm 5'2", 120 lbs, some kayaking experience. Plan to kayak in the bay, lakes, and possibly mellow rivers (but mostly lakes and some bay action). Possibly, but not likely, I might take it on vacation where there is gentle, low surf.

I like the Sport 10 model - the fact that it has the dry bag, extra handles, and extra bungees. Is there any disadvantage to going with the Sport 10 over the Play 9.5? (Assume cost is not an issue).[/b]

The Sport is only 2 lbs. heavier than the Play, so that is a non-issue.
The storage dimensions are the same, so that is non-issue.

The only difference I can see from the brochure is that the Play is listed as being able to use it in the surf and waves. Would I not be able to do the same thing with the Sport model?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I have posted in the public forum and sent and e-mail directly but I am still without an opinion from the real pros (either Walker Bay owners or manufacturers).

I have a new Genesis 340 FTD Console with the 20hp Merc (short). It gets up on plane but points almost straight up before getting there and won't stay on plane at mid speeds.

Add to this tendency to point skyward from above dead slow until fast plane the fact that I really want to try pulling my kids on an inflatable (like in the ad) and well - I am concerned. (towable: http://shopping.msn.com/reviews/shp/?itemId=994793821)

I understand their are "built-in trim tabs" in the hull but it would appear that these are not as effective as external trim tabs. Also in my research online and at the boat store I am learning about hydrofoils (Stingray and Doelfin). The opinion is certainly varied on these and I have not heard from anyone with a Genesis.

Presently I am aware of three options:
1.) Go with the Hydrofoil - which means drilling holes through the cavitation plate on my brand new motor
2.) Installing trim tabs - which means drilling holes into my brand new boat
3.) Putting up with the nuisance, limitations and added risk inherent in the current set up.

Option 3 would be extremely disappointing given the amount of money I have spent but options 1 and 2 seem serious, somewhat irreversible, potentially warranty voiding and the results are a bit of a mystery.

I would really appreciate some help here.

Thank you,
However, hoisting and storing 110lbs on the foredeck of my sailboat is not as much fun as I imagined. I am considering a Odyssey air floor, either a 270 or a 310. Since either would be easier to manage I thought the 310 may give me a little more room. Do you think the 8hp will be enough for the 310 or would I be better off staying with a 270? I was wndering if the extra length would make planing with two adults a little easier.

They don't need to be professional quality, just an ordinary digital camera will do the job. And bandwidth should not be a problem for a site like this. Also they ought to make clear what is in a composite piece and what is just a component part.

I park my WB10 on the beach attached to a beach chain along with some 100 other dinghies whose primary use is for getting out to the yachts. The authorities who license this parking require that each dinghy has a fender strip running around the full length of the edge of the boat (except for the outboard mounting). Do other WB10 users have the problem of finding and fitting such things and have any found a good source?
The WB10, unlike the WB8 I believe, has a grey insert under the edge which ought to be useful in some way for fastening but I can't see how. The best idea I've heard so far is short lengths of this nylon strapping wrapped around the insert and around a 4 inch rope draped immediately below the insert, but I'm not convinced there isn't a better way.
Any ideas?

I have bought Zodiac Zoom 310, with plywood floor, and dealer recommended 9.8 hp Nissan outboard. I bought outboard but I found it to be a big mismatch between the two. Even though manufacturer recommends 10hp as the maximum power for the Zoom 310, and I bought light weight version 4-cycle outboard, stern digs in to deep. I have to sit on the bench while driving, what makes all experience awkward and hard to maneuver. Bought my son and myself are big guys (220lb, 6’4” +) what contributes to stern digging even more. I will be using inflatable as dinghy on my sail boat. Keeping dinghy permanently on davits is not an option due to slip size I have and deck space does not allow for RIB. I am considering Odyssey 310 or Odyssey 340.
Which inflatable should be better match for my Nissan outboard(88lb). I need your experience, not theory. I already made mistake based on dealer recommendation.
What kind of performance can I expect from Odyssey 340 with 9.8 hp Nissan. It is slightly bellow factory recommended minimum power. Will I be able to reach declared speed when alone or what should I expect?

I just got my new Genesis console all set up with a 20 hp Merc (short shaft version is now available with remote!). However, the 6 US gallon tank does not fit anywhere on the boat except in the area where the legs of passengers number 3, 4 and 5 are supposed to go.

For now I have purchased two 3 gallon tanks to go under each seat but I am just wondering if there are other options I may not have thought of.

Thanks,

I am interested in the 310 and 340 RIB.
How are the tubes locked to the hull? What can I expect to pay for replacement tubes for either of these boats in PVC or Hypalon?
Could you post or forward photos of the tube attachment at the transom?
